The community breaks a recordHayley Damian-HarrisPhoto's courtesy of Community Chest and Madeleine Stone*
As the sun set on 29 November 2005 hundreds of eager community members lined up at the Founders Gardens (behind Artscape Theatre) to conquer the challenge of the annual Community Chest Twilight Team Run. The community, as well as participants from further abroad, enter as teams or individuals to walk, run or crawl through the streets of Cape Town in their outrageous outfits. Celebrity judges determine who wins the Best Dressed Team prize for the Good Hope FM Floating Trophy. The New Balance Floating Trophy is for the group with the most teams entered. The winning team for 2005, covered in blue body paint and dressed as Smurfs, were the dynamic team 1773 from Nashua Mobile. This year the community outdid themselves by entering 2 518 teams, breaking the record of the 2004 run of 2 066 teams. Congratulations to the 20 000 people who joined the mother of all parties. Proud partners contributing to the success of this record-breaking event are Good Hope FM, Lewis Stores, Cape Town Partnerships, World Space, Coca-Cola, and The Next 48 Hours. We at the Community Chest would like to thank the community for their dedication, loyalty and giving attitudes towards the event. We look forward to continue working together in aid of the regeneration of the community. The Community Chest Twilight Team Run photo gallery!
