you gave me your umbrella
and we caught the raindrops as they danced
together.

Because there's no such thing as love
we shared a pot of tea.
You told me all your thoughts and plans
and I told you all my dreams.

Because there's no such thing as love
we walked into the night
and felt the cold air blow the leaves
out of sight.

Because there's no such thing as love
I went up to your place where we tried to fill the emptiness
of the modern living
space.

Because there's no such thing as love
you woke up all alone - I had to battle
security bars to make sure I got
home.

Because there's no such thing as love
I don't return your calls.
I read the Cosmo and play with my Rabbit,
wash the coffee cups and eat more salad; work
in the garden and chat to my mother
about her love life and her prospects for another
lover.
