A Bit for the Blues

I wanted to write to u a Bit of everything
A Bit of home
For your pocket, bag, shoe box

I wanted to write to u something timeless
Without an occasion
Just a reminder of something without a definition

Something to read on your first day
When u greet the snow
Whether in fear or awe

I wanted to write to u
Something, which does not remind u of anyone in particular
Just a reminder of something

Something to read
When u go to sleep or wake-up
To put under your pillow or leave at the kitchen table

I wanted to write to u
Something precious, but nothing
To guard with your life
Something that will not be part
Of the bank slips at the bottom of your bag
But that note u just seem not to throw away

I wanted to write to you
Something u can laugh with
And when they ask u
What is it u laughing at?
U can honestly say: NOTHING!

For a soul sista who went over the seas
