Every week a multitude of verses pour into Anton Krueger's e-mail account. He has been known to ruthlessly scrutinise every one. Each receives a reply. Stephen Watson teaches in the dept of English at the University of Cape Town. He has published a number of books, includingA Writer’s Diary (Queillerie, 1997) and The Other City: Selected Poems (David Philip, 2000). He has also written many reviews as well as essays, ranging from Eastern European writers to local cultural conditions. He lives in St James, on the eastern seaboard of the Cape Peninsula.
