Amandla ebali: the power of the story exhibition at the National Library, Queen Victoria Street, Cape Town
An exhibition featuring historical South African children's books in the storytelling tradition.

CENTRE FOR THE BOOK
A collection put together by the Frankfurt Book Fair and the Goethe-Institut (Johannesburg) featuring mostly German books with children's literature, African literature translated into German and German literature translated into South African languages. The National Afrikaans Literary Museum & Research Centre (Bloemfontein) presents a display on the evolution of Afrikaans children's literature. The National English Literary Museum (Grahamstown) offers a display on The Child in the Book focusing on South African children and childhood in contemporary picture-books. at the Centre for the Book, 62 Queen Victoria Street, Cape Town Open from 8 am to 4 pm weekdays - Entrance free

One hundred representative books from today's South African children's literature, chosen to include all eleven of our official languages and a cross section of age groups, with all our major authors, illustrators and publishers. Sponsored by Yamada Apiculture Centre (Ltd), Japan. At the Baxter Theatre Centre during 6 to 8 September - available to Congress delegates only unless by prior arrangement. After that, this exhibition will tour major public libraries around South Africa.
