Conference convenor

We are proud to present Young Voices: The 2004 South African Online Writers' Conference - the first ever writers' conference for South African writers 35 years and younger. The venue: the virtual world of your computer screen. And everyone is invited to participate.

LitNet will be hosting the voices of local writers, publishers, editors and booksellers - young South Africans giving their honest impressions on South African life, and on writing, publishing and reading in this country. It is a rare opportunity to hear so many different voices speak at once, and about the same topics: My Memory, My Place, My Generation, My Body and My Voice.

So keep your eyes zoomed in on LitNet from Monday (October 4th onwards), to read the first of nearly 50 online presentations running over a period of two months. And be prepared to voice your own opinion - what are these young voices saying, and what is being left unsaid?

Young Voices promises to be a barometer of South African society - what does the mindmap of younger generations of writers look like, and where are they heading?
