6th Time of the Writer Festival: “Visions”

10 — 15 March 2003

  • Six-day international festival of writers presented by the Centre for Creative Arts (University of Natal) in association with the French Institute of South Africa.

  • 20 writers representing 15 different countries read, discuss and debate their work nightly at the Elizabeth Sneddon Theatre.

  • Day activities take place at tertiary institutions and other venues in the Durban district, including a workshop for educators, book launches, short-story competitions and wide-reaching school visits designed to stimulate a culture of reading and writing.

  • A special feature is the continued partnership with the Winternachten Festival of The Hague, who organise participation by writers from the Netherlands, Surinam and Indonesia.

  • The festival also includes a Publishing Forum involving local and international publishers, live music, and an exhibition of illustrations and paintings by Kazuko Tajima (Japan).

    EVENING PROGRAMME AT THE ELIZABETH SNEDDON THEATRE

    Tickets are R15 for adults, and R8 for students and pensioners, and can be purchased through Computicket or at the Elizabeth Sneddon Theatre from 18h00.

    Block bookings of ten or more students are R5 and available in advance through the Centre for Creative Arts.

    Book launches, workshops and seminars are free.
